Recent developments and guidelines around the outbreak of COVID-19/Coronavirus in Ireland are evolving at an ever-increasing pace. As a result of government & HSE guidelines, the Irish Planning Institute have taken the decision to reschedule the Annual Planning Conference from the 23rd and 24th April to the 15th and 16th October 2020.

We have been monitoring the situation very closely and have been in regular contact with our major partners, suppliers, the Clayton Whites Hotel and the Host Local Authority Wexford County Council. Over recent weeks we have been adhering to guidelines and recommendations by the HSE, government bodies and the National Public Health Emergency Team and we feel that this is the most responsible and right thing to do for all parties involved.

As a professional Institute representing spatial planners across Ireland and overseas, we pride ourselves on the experience we create for our speakers, guests, delegates, sponsors and exhibitors at our Annual Planning Conference. It is thanks to them that our Annual Planning Conference has become the dynamic, engaging and informative event it is. The health and safety of all delegates, sponsors, partners and staff is a priority for us as an Institute and therefore we will take measures to mitigate the spread of infections such as COVID-19.

This decision has not been an easy one for us to come to as there has been many months of hard work already completed to ensure we deliver successful and engaging Conference for our Members, Elected Representatives and all those with an interest in planning.  However, we cannot overlook the safety of our staff, delegates, speakers and partners as well as the wider business community.

The Annual Planning Conference will now take place on the 15 and 16 October in the Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford. All bookings will remain valid for the event and we really look forward to seeing you then. If you are unable to attend the conference in October there are two options – we can transfer the booking to another employee in your organisation or you can contact Alison Fox directly on info@ipi.ie  to arrange a refund.

Members are asked to take note of the following:

  • All other IPI delivered CPD Events have for the moment been postponed
  • Irish Planning Institute staff are working remotely. The policy and administration work of the Institute will continue on behalf of its Members under the guidance of the Institute’s Council and Committees.
  • Committee Meetings will be held virtually using available technology. We will actively explore the delivery of CPD for Members around key aspects of planning and planning legislation remotely.
  • The Institute will continue to engage on behalf of its Members with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, An Bord Pleanála, the Office of the Planning Regulator and Local Authorities. Any official communications on logistics of Applications, Appeals, Referrals, opening hours and other arrangements will be communicated immediately to Members.
